SPINDLETOP FARM - LaNet Hester

How did you get to know Michael?
MIKE HAS RIDDEN SEVERAL OF OUR HORSES FOR ME OVER THE TIME I HAVE KNOWN HIM. MY STALLIONS, MY YOUNG HORSES, ETC. HE REALLY HELPED ME OUT WHEN I WAS PREGNANT AND COULD NOT RIDE AND TEACH DUE TO COMPLICATIONS. HE TOOK OVER MOST OF MY LESSONS AS WELL AS MY RIDING HORSES. WE PRETTY MUCH ADOPTED HIM AS PART OF THE FAMILY AS HIS WIFE HAD NOT MOVED TO AMERICA YET. HE HAD MANY, MANY DINNERS HERE AT THE FARM WITH US.

What breeds do you work with?
DIFFERENT WARMBLOOD BREEDS, WE HAVE SEVERAL HORSES

What disciplines are involved?
DRESSAGE AND JUMPER

Did you show or do you show now?
I DID A LOT OF SHOWING IN THE 90'S BUT DUE TO HAVING TWO CHILDREN BACK TO BACK, I DON'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO GET AWAY FROM THE FARM. WE MOSTLY CONCENTRATE ON YOUR HORSES, STARTING YOUNG HORSES AND STANDING STALLIONS.

Describe why you began working with Michael?
I CALLED MIKE BACK IN 2005 WHEN I WAS PREGNANT. I HAD A NEW STALLION, SEVERAL YOUNG HORSES AND I NEEDED SOMEONE EXPERIENCED ENOUGH TO HANDLE THEM AS WELL AS STAY IN THE SADDLE IF SOMETHING WENT WRONG AND NOT GET SCARED OR FLUSTERED.

What have you accomplished or been especially proud of since your lessons with Michael, that you feel are specifically related to what he taught you?
MIKE REALLY HELPED ME IMPROVE MY LATERAL WORK. HE HAS A GREAT EYE ON THE GROUND. I HAVE A HIP INJURY FROM SEVERAL YRS AGO DUE TO A FALL AND HE HELPED ME READJUST MY POSITION TO MAKE IT RIDE CORRECTLY WITHOUT COLLAPSING MY HIP.

What one thing, that you find most relevant in your associating positively with your horse, did Michael teach to you? Or what is your fondest/most fun memory of working with him?
MIKE HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR AND HE NEVER TAKES ANYTHING TOO SERIOUS. WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF GOOD LAUGHS OVER THE YEARS. HE HAS A KNACK FOR YOUNG HORSES AND HAS "STICKY BUTT SYNDROME. TO SAY THE LEAST.
